2012 - Inaugural recipient of the R. James Travers Foreign Corresponding Fellowship 
Carleton University, Travers Foundation 
Grant funding to travel to Australia and Thailand to investigate the mandatory detention policies of those countries in light of sweeping refugee reforms in Canada, prompted the high-profile arrival of two migrant ships off Canada's west coast. 

2011 - Winner, Jack Webster award for best print reporting in British Columbia
Policing the Police, Times Colonist
Travelled to Ontario to learn more about the Special Investigations Unit which probes police use of force cases after the Braidwood inquiry recommended such a body be set up in British Columbia in response to the Tasering death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski

2011 - Nominee, Jack Webster award for best print reporting in British Columbia
Fractured Forces, Times Colonist 
A team of Times Colonist reporters completed a week-long series investigating B.C.'s fractured policing system and how it has allowed criminals to evade police, particularly Robert Pickton whose killing spree lasted years.
